Earlier in November 2022, Nothing brand, founded by Carl Pei, changed the name of its companion app for audio devices to Nothing X. Nothing was quick to change the names in Google Play Store and App Store. The app supports Nothing Ear (1) and Nothing Ear (Stick). It introduced some new features along with the name change. Nothing improves the gesture controls, pairing, and set-up process. It also lets users customize gesture controls. The transition between active noise cancellation modes is available only for Nothing Ear (1).

Other changes are the new equalizer for low, mid, and high-frequency levels, displaying the battery levels of each earbud and the case, in-ear detection, firmware updates, and find my earbuds. The app is intended for other smartphone users as Nothing Phone (1) users get all these features in Bluetooth settings with Nothing OS 1.1.4 or higher. [December 21, 2022]: Nothing has rolled another update for Nothing X and brings Material You’s Themed Icons for smartphones running on Android 13. It comes with version v2.1.1, weighs around 23MB, and is live in Google Play Store. The update also brings updated widget design & battery indication, fixes General bugs, and adds a new Easter egg.
